To begin, unpack each kit as needed. Find each kit in your inventory, right click, and “wear”. It will attach a shopping bag to your hand. A message will pop up in the top right corner of your screen, asking if you’d like to keep the unpacked items. Click Accept.
The items inside the kit will now be in your inventory in a folder, ready for use.
Which kit do you need?
There is no universal system for mesh bodies and each is different. I have tried my best to support the major mesh bodies and body parts out there. Carefully check the list to see if you can use Columba with your add-ons.
alaskametro<3 "Columba" avatar - Classic kit : unpack this kit even if you use a mesh body or mesh body parts, as you’ll want the skin inside to match your body parts. “Classic” just means the default avatar that we all start with: no mesh body parts.
alaskametro<3 "Columba" avatar - Slink kit : unpack this kit if you use the Slink mesh hands and feet, Slink Physique mesh body, or any of the Slink Visage mesh heads.
alaskametro<3 "Columba" avatar - #themeshproject kit : unpack this kit if you use mesh bodies or heads from The Shops/#themeshproject/TMP.
alaskametro<3 "Columba" avatar - Omega kit : unpack this kit for Omega appliers. Omega is a universal applier system that will work with many mesh avatar body parts. To see if yours is compatible, check this list.
alaskametro<3 "Columba" avatar - Miscellaneous : unpack this kit if you use Loudmouth lips, Nyam Nyam lips, Maitreya Lara, Lelutka mesh heads, Eve mesh heads, or Eve mesh bodies.
What is a Classic avatar?
“Classic” just means you’re using the default Second Life base for your avatar, without attaching a mesh body, head, hands/feet, etc. for higher definition. If you’re just starting out, you’re probably wearing a Classic avatar.
What is a mesh avatar?
There is no standard “mesh avatar”, but rather a large number of different add-ons you can purchase to add more definition and realism to your avatar. (You’re not limited to being human, either, many mesh bodies exist for animals, cyborgs, or hybrids.) You can add modular pieces such as heads, hands, feet, breasts, or lower bodies, or buy an all-in-one body to replace your default avatar completely. Mesh body parts work by hiding the default avatar underneath (via an alpha layer), and using rigged mesh to follow your avatar’s movement and animations. Before buying a mesh avatar, try demos from a few creators. There is no such thing as the best body, only the body that is best for you!
What are appliers?
Appliers can be for skins (the overall look of your avatar), clothing, makeup, or tattoo effects. They work with your mesh body’s system to apply the texture overtop of your avatar. Each mesh body uses a different applier system. The closest thing to a universal system is Omega, which can be made compatible with a large list of mesh body parts via an installer HUD or drop-in script.
Do I need to wear applier clothing?
No – mesh clothing exists for both Classic and mesh avatars! These clothes typically come in either "standard sizes" (Columba's shape fits an S), or "fitted mesh/fitmesh" for specific bodies. This avatar kit only includes appliers, but many stores sell mesh clothing, including alaskametro<3.
Wearing Columba as a Classic avatar
- Unpack the object: alaskametro<3 "Columba" avatar - Classic kit. Find the folder in your inventory.
- Double click the skin (labelled alaskametro<3 custom v2 skin - Columba) and shape (labelled alaskametro<3 free shape - Columba) in your inventory. You should now be wearing them both.
- To add lipsticks, eyeshadows, nail polishes, and the underwear, right click on each item in your inventory, and choose Add. You can stack up to 5 items on the same layer (for example, up to 5 tattoo layers for makeup, tattoos, nail polish, eyebrows, and other add-ons.)
- You don’t have to wear all the clothing layer options. They’re provided in case you want to stack them with other outfits. For best results, wear one bra layer and one underwear layer.
- To remove an item from your Classic avatar, right click and “Remove”.
Tip: To better view your avatar, hold down Alt (Option on a Mac), and click/drag to zoom. Alt + Shift (Option + Shift on a Mac) will rotate around.
Wearing Columba with Slink products
You’ll want unpack the alaskametro<3 "Columba" avatar kit - Classic and alaskametro<3 "Columba" avatar kit - Slink. You’ll also need some of the things that come in the folder with your Slink body parts.
Applying the skin to Slink
Unless you’re wearing Slink from head to toe: Slink Physique body, Slink Visage head, and the hands/feet, you’ll want to wear the skin designed for Classic avatars as well. This will ensure you have a seamless blend. So, start by wearing the Columba skin for Classic avs (alaskametro<3 custom v2 skin - Columba).
Make sure you’re wearing your Slink body parts (Physique body, Visage head, or hands/feet). Now, right click the item named alaskametro<3 "Columba" skin applier - Slink HUD in your inventory and choose “Add”. This will attach the applier as a HUD on your screen. Only you can see this object when it’s attached as a HUD. Press the large button to wear the Columba skin on all your Slink body parts.
To wear a different skin by a different creator, use their applier HUD. To switch back to the default Slink skins, use the default appliers that come with your Slink body part.
Applying nail polish to Slink hands/feet
To wear nail polish, first attach your Slink hands/feet and the Slink AvEnhance Utilities HUD that comes with them. Now, right click and “Add” the item named alaskametro<3 "Columba" nail polish - Slink HUD. This will attach as a HUD on your screen. In the Slink Utilities HUD, turn off (and/or on) any nails that you would like to apply nail polish to. (If you don't see any options, press the icon button to expand the HUD on your screen. It says "Slink Utilities".) Now, press the colour you’d like on the applier. The Slink Utilities HUD also lets you control nail polish length, visibility, gloves and tattoos (plus includes some extra bonus nail polishes).
Still confused? Watch the tutorial video on Slink nail polish appliers.
Applying makeup to Slink Visage
To wear Slink makeup, first ensure you’re wearing your Slink Visage head and the Slink Visage Utilities HUD. Now, “Add” the item alaskametro<3 "Columba" makeup - Slink HUD and press the image for the lipstick or eyeshadow you’d like to wear. To remove the makeup, use the Slink Visage Utilities HUD, and click the Clear button. (If you don't see any options, press the icon button to expand the HUD on your screen. It says "Visage".)
Is your eyeshadow glitching? Does it look partially missing? You can fix this issue by pressing the Mask button under Lashes blend mode on the Slink Visage Utilities HUD. You may also need to use the Mask button for eyebrows, too.
Applying the lingerie to Slink Physique
To wear the lingerie set, "Add" your Slink Physique Alpha/Utilities HUD. Make sure you have the target layers selected - you will probably want the underwear layers Panties and Top. (If you don't see any options, press the strip to expand the HUD on your screen. It says "Physique Alpha HUD".)
Now, "Add" the alaskametro<3 "Columba" underwear applier - Slink HUD. Press the button for the layer(s) you'd like to use. They should appear on your Slink Physique body.
If you're experiencing any glitches with layers disappearing on you, you may need to use the mask mode. In the Physique Utilities HUD, press the buttons under the Alpha Mask section. Try a few combinations to find one that works.
To remove a clothing item from Slink Physique, just turn the layer off in the Physique Utilities HUD.
Wearing Columba on Omega-enabled mesh body parts
Example images show the Omega appliers on Belleza Venus mesh body and [PXL] Sweet Lips 1.
You’ll want unpack the alaskametro<3 "Columba" avatar kit - Classic and alaskametro<3 "Columba" avatar kit - Omega. You’ll also need any utility HUDs that come in the folder with your body part(s).
First, see if your mesh body parts can be made Omega-compatible. Check the listings here and click on the name of your mesh body part for instructions on how to make Omega work. Generally, you will need to purchase a separate installer kit from the Omega creators, LoveNLust.
- For most mesh bodies and body parts, there is a drop-in script. Watch this video tutorial on how to install Omega.
- For Belleza, Eve, and a handful of other bodies, there’s a one-click installer you’ll need to use. For Maitreya, you need wear an Omega relay HUD.
- If you’re having problems getting Omega installed on your mesh body or body parts, the Omega Appliers System - Support group in-world is very helpful and can talk you through the process.
- If you own mesh breasts, they will probably already work with Omega appliers – there is nothing to install.
Applying the skin
Wear the skin for Classic avatars for a seamless match.
Locate the item named alaskametro<3 "Columba" skin applier - Omega HUD, right click, and add the HUD to your screen. Make sure you’re wearing your Omega-enabled body parts. Now, click the large button to apply the skin. It should appear on your avatar.
Applying nail polish
If your Omega-enabled mesh body includes fingernails or toenails, the alaskametro<3 "Columba" nail polish - Omega HUD will work on them. Just wear the HUD and click the colour you’d like to apply.
Using the Eve mesh body, or Maitreya Lara? Unpack the alaskametro<3 Columba avatar kit - Miscellaneous to get nail polish appliers specifically for these bodies. While the Omega applier will work on Lara and Eve, the Omega texture won’t line up properly and will look distorted.
Omega makeup will work on a handful of mesh body parts, most notably [PXL] Sweet Lips (once Omega is installed). There are two buttons per makeup style: one for the makeup layer and one for the tattoo layer. You will want to use the makeup layer, but if nothing is happening, try the other one. To remove makeup, you’ll need to look at the instructions for your mesh head or body part.
Using the EVE'olution mesh head? While the Omega makeup will work on this head, there is an EVE-specific applier that will allow you to properly layer the makeup. Unpack the alaskametro<3 Columba avatar kit - Miscellaneous for the Eve makeup applier.
Wearing the underwear
First, make sure you’re wearing your Omega-enabled mesh body part and it has active clothing layers. To see if the clothing layers are active, use the utility HUD that comes with your mesh body. You may need to turn all the layers off except the ones you want to use (otherwise, parts of your outfit can disappear). Add the alaskametro<3 "Columba" underwear - Omega HUD and press the button for the layer you’d like to use. The clothing should appear on your avatar.
To remove the underwear, use the utility HUD that comes with your mesh body parts, and turn the layer off.
Wearing Columba with #themeshproject bodies & heads
The Mesh Project system is very different from other mesh bodies. You will be wearing most things through their own StyleMode HUD that comes with your body or head.
Please note that you will need a Basic or Deluxe body or head to use appliers. The free body and faces can’t be modified.
You will want to unpack the alaskametro<3 Columba avatar kit - Classic and alaskametro<3 Columba avatar kit - #themeshproject.
Note the items labelled “TMP INSTALLER” in your Columba #themeshproject kit. Double click them to wear as a HUD, and then touch the large circle to install. It should verify (Yay!) that you’ve installed the item. Do this for all the TMP installers. Once they're installed, you can safely delete the installer from your inventory.

Columba’s skin should appear as an option in the 6 styles that appear (though you may need to search back and forth in these listings if you have a lot of stuff installed). Press the icon to wear the skin.

You can also find separate top/bra under the tops icon, and panties under the bottoms icon, to mix and match with other items. To remove clothes, just click the Unstyle button at the bottom.
Sorry, TMP doesn’t yet support third-party nail polish creation.
Other bits and bobs:
Nyam Nyam appliers: If you own the Nyam Nyam mouth, you can use the appliers to match Columba’s skin and to apply her lipstick.
Loudmouth appliers: If you own a Loudmouth, you can use the appliers to match Columba’s skin and to apply her lipstick.
Maitreya nail polish: Since Omega nail polish uses a different texture area, separate Maitreya HUDs (manicure + pedicure) are included for the Lara body.
Eve nail polish: Since Eve nail polish uses a different texture area, separate Eve HUDs (manicure + pedicure) are included for the Eve bodies.
Eve makeup: Though you can use the Omega makeup HUD on the EVE’olution head, it won’t let you layer other makeup. The Eve makeup HUD is designed specifically for EVE’olution.
Lelutka makeup: If you own a Lelutka head, you can wear Columba’s makeup with it (please note I am not authorized to make skins for Lelutka, so for now this is makeup only).
